CHRIS PETERSEN

HAPPY HOUR WITH CLINT HURDLE (6)

In 14 seasons as a college head football coach, Chris Petersen finished with a record of 147-38, including five top-10 national finishes. Petersen spent three decades in coaching before surprising many when he stepped down as the University of Washington’s head coach following the 2019 season. At the time, he had an 80% winning percentage, the second highest among active FBS coaches.

The first ever two-time winner of the Paul “Bear” Bryant National Coach of the Year Award, Chris Petersen, was the fastest active FBS coach to reach 100 career victories – doing so in just 117 games. During his tenure at Boise State, he coached the Broncos to two undefeated seasons. Additionally, Petersen led the Washington Huskies to the College Football Playoffs and three New Year’s Six Bowl appearances. Off the field, Petersen worked to instill his “Built for Life” philosophy in his players, coaches, and staff through a focus on character development, life skills and championship teamwork. Under his leadership, his teams also set numerous academic records and regularly achieved team grade-point averages of over 3.0. During the 2015-2018 seasons, the UW Football program achieved the highest four-year APR (Academic Progress Report) score in the history of FBS college football. Currently, Petersen consults and advises with coaches, athletic programs, and businesses as well as serving as an analyst for Fox College Football.
